Kyle Hall Takes Second Victory at
Southern National
For
Immediate Release
Lucama, North Carolina – April 26,
2008
Corey
Strickland had thought he would be the
car to beat Saturday night at Southern
National Raceway Park. Having the
fastest qualifying lap, and taking the
lead after two laps (thanks to a five
car invert), Strickland was correct
about having the car to beat. A
lap 41 caution would prove to be the
thing it would take to put Strickland
back in the grasp of the rest of the
field. SNRP rookie of the year
candidate Kyle Hall took advantage,
making the pass on lap 53, and holding
on for the final 47 laps to win his
second race in the past two attempts.
Strickland
would eventually finish third, as Cliff
Daniels would make a late pass for
second place. Doug Godsey and
Michael Hardin would round out the top
five. After five races, Ryan
Rhodes retains his points lead, only 12
points ahead of Sherman Davis Jr.
Corey Strickland is third, with Kyle
Hall fourth and Doug Godsey fifth.
The separation between second and fifth
currently stands at 29 points.
In Bobby
Murray Chevrolet GM Performance Parts
Limited Late Models, PJ Flowers led from
lap five onward to win his first race of
2008. Taylor Howard fell back
early but would rally back for a strong
second place finish. Tom Holland
Jr. would score third, his best finish
of 2008.
Tracy Banks
led only three laps in the Papa Jack’s
Store and Grill Street Stocks, but they
were the most important three laps as
he’d win his second race in a row.
Kevin Benton led the majority of the
race but would settle for second,
holding off Sonny Jay Fisher.
In 4
Cylinders, Wil Smith pushed John Whitley
Jr. around the track for a lap before
taking the lead on lap 5. He’d
check out on the field and win for the
first time in 2008. Kevin Pierce
and Lee Kozikowski would finish second
and third respectively. The third
place finish is Kozikowski’s worst
finish of 2008. In UCARs, Ronnie
Jones would win his first ever stock car
race, besting Jason Capps and John
Vernon.
AJ Winstead
bested Aubrey Thurston and Allen
Marshall in the Rolling Thunder
Modifieds race, and Craig Goess Jr.
fended off a hard-charging Billy Gomez
Jr. and Sparky West in INEX Legends.
